Future Farmer ScholarshipCreated in remembrance of their son Arias M. Brownback, Mike and Terra Brownback established the Arias M. Brownback Memorial Scholarship Fund through the Pennsylvania Association of Sustainable Agriculture. It is their sincere hope that this memorial scholarship will inspire and aid young farmers to reach their full potential. The fund is intended as an endowment to help youth and other developing farmers attend the PASA Farming for the Future Conference each year. The scholarship sent 40 recepients to the 2009 PASA conference at Penn State. Thanks to all who helped by contributing. From an early age, Mike and Terra's son Arias expressed an interest in farming. He attended his first Farming for the Future Conference at the age of 18. Seeing fellow farmers who were dedicated to sustainable practices was a great inspiration to Arias, motivating him to begin his own certified organic operation called Native Water Organics. Arias Brownback passed away in August of 2001 at the young age of 24, long before he was able to realize his personal dreams. His daughter, Ivory Moon Brownback, now 13, continues to live at the family farm with her Nana Terra and Pop Mike.
